Frequently Asked Questions

At DOP RESPRAY & DETAILING, we make car care simple, transparent and stress-free. Our FAQs cover everything from turnaround times and pricing to warranties, insurance claims and vehicle protection. Whether your question is about Colour & Repair (spray painting, accident repair, bodywork), Clean & Shine (interior and engine detailing, buffing, rims, watermark removal, headlight restoration) or Coat & Guard (PPF, wraps, ceramic coating, window tinting), you'll find the answer here. If your question isn't listed, our team is a call away at 0775-358-536.

How much do your services cost?
Pricing depends on your vehicle's size, age and condition, and the service selected. As a guide: full interior detailing from KES 8,500, buffing from KES 6,500, panel repair from KES 20,000, full respray from KES 85,000, ceramic coating from KES 50,000 and PPF from KES 160,000. Visit our Pricing page or use the Instant Quote tool for an accurate, personalised estimate.
Are your products and methods safe for my car?
Absolutely. We use manufacturer-approved paints, films and coatings sourced from authorised suppliers, and our technicians follow OEM-safe procedures for every surface and material — clear coats, plastics, chrome, leather, fabric and trim. Nothing touches your car that we wouldn't use on our own vehicles.
How often should I get detailing or paint protection services done?
We recommend detailing every 3–6 months to maintain appearance and protect resale value. Ceramic coating typically lasts 3–5 years, PPF 5–10 years depending on grade, and wraps 3–5 years. Nairobi's sun and dust are tough on paint, so regular care pays for itself.
Do you work with insurance for accident repairs?
We partner with major Kenyan insurers to assist with your accident repair assessment and documentation. While we operate on a cash-in-lieu (cash settlement) basis—meaning the insurer pays you directly—we handle the complete assessment report and repair estimate to help clear your claim smoothly. Once you receive your settlement, bring your claim reference and we’ll take care of the rest. For private, out-of-pocket repairs, we always provide a clear, transparent quote before any work begins.
Where are you located and what are your working hours?
We're located on Makoyeti West Road, Karen Area — Nairobi, Kenya. Our working hours are Monday–Saturday: 9:00am – 5:30pm, with Sunday by appointment only. You can find us easily via the map on our Contact page.
Do you offer pickup and delivery services?
Yes. We offer free pickup and delivery within the Karen area for services booked through the website. For customers elsewhere in Nairobi, we offer affordable paid pickup and delivery — just mention your location when booking and we'll quote the transport fee upfront.
Do you use genuine paint and quality materials?
Yes. All paint, coatings, films and detailing products are sourced from authorised suppliers — brands like PPG, 3M, Meguiar's, Sonax and Avery — and applied according to manufacturer specification. We refuse to compromise on materials, because that's what separates a finish that lasts from one that doesn't.
What if I'm not satisfied with the results?
Let us know within 48 hours of collection and we'll review the work immediately. If it falls short of our standard, we'll make it right under our workmanship guarantee — no arguing, no excuses. Customer satisfaction isn't a slogan for us; it's the only reason we're still growing.
Does the age of my vehicle affect the price?
Yes — and honestly so. We price by vehicle age band because preparation needs vary widely:

• 0–3 years (near-new): Light correction and protection-focused. Cheapest band.
• 4–8 years (mid-age): Moderate prep, panel blending, minor touch-ups.
• 9–15 years (aging): Heavier prep, possible rust treatment, extra primer and finishing.
• 15+ years (classic/older): Restoration-grade work — usually quoted individually after inspection.

Our Instant Quote tool automatically adjusts for your vehicle's age once you enter the year of manufacture.
Can you match my exact factory paint colour?
Absolutely. We use computerised colour-matching equipment and hand-tint sample panels under daylight-balanced lighting to ensure your repaired or repainted panels blend invisibly with the rest of the car. This is one of the areas where our workshop standards really show — many customers can't tell which panel was resprayed.
What's the difference between ceramic coating and paint protection film (PPF)?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to your paint, adding gloss, hydrophobic protection and UV resistance. It repels water and dirt but doesn't stop physical impacts. PPF is a transparent urethane film applied over your paint that absorbs stone chips, scratches and light impacts — physical protection rather than chemical. Many customers combine both for total protection: PPF underneath, ceramic on top.
Do you offer window tinting and is it legal in Kenya?
Yes, we offer professional window tinting. In Kenya, tinting is legal as long as it complies with NTSA regulations — windshields must allow at least 70% visible light transmission (VLT), and front side windows at least 50% VLT. We'll advise you on compliant options and can install ceramic or standard films to suit your needs.
Can you fix scratches, dents and rust on my car?
Yes. We handle everything from light scratch removal (via machine polishing) to dent repair (panel beating) and rust treatment (grinding back, treating and repainting affected areas). For rust in particular, we treat the cause, not just the symptom — meaning the repair lasts far longer than a quick cosmetic fix.
Do you service fleets and corporate clients?
Yes — fleet and corporate work is a core part of what we do. We service company fleets, tour operators, dealerships, law firms and NGOs with scheduled detailing, paint touch-ups and long-term protection plans. Benefits include consolidated monthly invoicing, dedicated account management and priority scheduling. Get in touch to discuss fleet pricing.
How long does ceramic coating last and how do I maintain it?
Our ceramic coatings last 3–5 years depending on the grade selected and how the car is looked after. To maximise lifespan: wash with pH-neutral shampoo every 2–3 weeks, avoid automatic car washes with brushes, and top up with a ceramic-infused detailer spray every few months. We provide full written care instructions at handover.
Can you remove old wraps or coatings before applying new ones?
Yes. Removing old vinyl wraps, coatings or film is a routine part of our work. We use controlled heat and professional-grade removers to strip old material without harming your paint underneath. After removal, we inspect the surface and prep it properly before any new coating, film or wrap is applied.
Do you offer any discounts for repeat customers or package services?
Yes. Returning customers receive loyalty pricing on repeat services, and we offer package discounts when you combine services — for example, ceramic coating with interior detailing, or full respray with PPF. Fleet and corporate clients receive volume-based pricing. Ask our team for current offers when you book.
What should I do if I notice a problem after collection?
Contact us right away — by phone on 0775-358-836 or by email at [email protected]. We ask that you flag any concerns within 48 hours of collection so we can assess and resolve quickly. Our workmanship guarantee means we stand behind what we do; if something isn't right, we'll make it right.
Do you work on all vehicle types — from motorbikes to trucks?
We work primarily on passenger cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. We can handle larger vehicles like vans and pickups depending on the service. For motorbikes, classic vehicles, or specialist commercial fleet work, please contact us directly so we can advise on suitability and pricing.
Can I see examples of your previous work before booking?
Absolutely. Browse our Gallery page to see real completed projects across spray painting, detailing, ceramic coating and wraps. You're also welcome to visit our Karen studio in person to see work in progress — we're proud of our standards and happy to show them.
How do I get an accurate quote for my specific car?
The fastest way is our Instant Quote tool — it asks about your vehicle's make, model, year and condition, then returns a personalised itemised price within minutes. For complex jobs (full restoration, colour changes, custom wraps), we recommend a free in-person assessment at our Karen studio so we can quote with complete accuracy.
